Before: a room with a looooooong history

The apartment is very dear to its owner as there she has spent all her childhood and teenage years up until her studies. She says she never really felt the need to change something as the interior satisfied all the basic needs. But then she found the time has come for something new. The old storage solution was almost falling apart, the room was dark and not at all comfortable for two people to be working in.

Looking for the cosmic vibe

As the owner of this apartment turned out to be a dedicated hobby astronomer, our interior designers looked for inspiration up in space. They have combined different images, colours and quaint accessories in a moodboard which has become the guiding star in the creative process. Pure white background acts as a contrast point for hues of warm red and deep blue, and the combination is topped off with metallic and natural accents that add "that little something" to the whole.

After: a harmony in blue

The dominant hue of the new interior is a deep, saturated blue that dominates one wall and resonates throughout the room, echoing in the indigo blinds, richly coloured carpet where shades of blue flow and ebb in a wavelike pattern, plush, midnight blue armchair and even the nuances of the decorative canvas. White furniture adds freshness to the overall atmosphere and the impressive contrast is softened by earth tones in chair and pouffe.

Now it's open, now it's not

Where there is workspace, there must be storage. Here, our interior designers have used a clever combination of open, glass door and closed cabinets that offer a wide range of possible solutions. While open shelves are best for things that are needed often and have to be close at hand, glass door cabinets are great for keeping things visible jet dust-free. For small things that often create cluttered impression, there is a drawer unit and a big wardrobe on one side of the door. The drawer unit reflects the blue combinations on the other wall, creating a visual equilibrium. The desk has been left free to move up and down to ensure flexible working position.

Adding more space

One cannot fail to notice the spacious balcony by the room. We see it as an integral part of this space and so decided to incorporate it even more by adding a couple of outdoor chairs, a coffee table and some greenery. The simple setup continues with the colour theme inside and adds fresh note to this outside space that now invites to work in fresh air or just relax for a while.
