“Home idea with IKEA”: an office where hours pass effortlessly

This week’s project is a little different—instead of a real home, we’re visiting a "second one": the shared office of two dynamic colleagues, Indrė and Eglė. They work with young people, organise events and send athletes to competitions abroad. The women have clear requirements for their workspace: they want ergonomic desks and mobile chairs, a storage solution for not only work-related items but also clothing, as well as a space where they can enjoy coffee breaks and welcome frequent visitors. Look at the transformations brought to life by our interior designer Asta!

For Indrė and Eglė, we chose MITTZON desks. Their black frames and oak veneer tops give the office a modern look that fits perfectly in a Scandinavian-style interior. But looks aren’t the focus here. These desks feature an electric height-adjustment mechanism, allowing easy transitions between sitting and standing. This feature is crucial because switching positions every 30–60 minutes helps prevent back strain.

Ergonomic, stylish and durable, HATTEFJÄLL swivel chairs are perfect for both home and office use. They’re easy to adjust—seat height and armrests can both be customised, while the backrest locks into one of five positions, providing support where needed and promoting better posture. For this office, we chose chairs in a matching style: a white base with beige upholstery.

The MITTZON acoustic screen is a practical and versatile solution. Installed between the desks, it not only separates the two workspaces but also provides extra space for pinning reminders or personal items. Thanks to its neutral colour, this screen blends easily into different interiors.

More storage space needed?

We solved this with the METOD furniture system. These frames are usually found in kitchens, but they’re so versatile that no one will guess they aren’t office furniture! Paired with beige HAVSTORP fronts and black handles, these kitchen cabinets blend seamlessly into the office interior. Most have drawers, providing plenty of space for office supplies like paper, folders and stationery.

In this office, I added a touch of comfort and style by hanging curtains and artwork, laying down rugs, and setting up a wall with potted plants.”
