However, if you feel that your bedroom could be a little bit better, the upcoming spring is a great time for change.

This big-city crew traded the concrete jungle for a calmer, fresher life in the countryside. With nature as their next-door neighbour, their safe and welcoming country home is where their three small children have the freedom to learn, play and thrive. And just be kids!

The 50th anniversary episode of "Home Idea with IKEA" invites us to Kaunas. The occasion is special, no less than the heroine of this week, the golden-ager Laima who is bursting with joy and energy. Having worked as an accountant all her life, she has finally discovered her true vocation and now spends most of her time with her grandchildren. Laima is full of love for the little ones yet tends to forget showing some of it to herself. She lives in an old apartment and sleeps on the couch in the room that used to belong to her already adult daughters. Together with the interior designer Laura, we came to furnish a bedroom that she has fairly deserved.

They met, they fell in love and after some time, they decided to blend their lives, their families and their home. Together with their four children and much-loved hound, they’ve created a place that is distinctly their own, where there is much exploring to be done, inside and outdoors – together and alone.

We’re social creatures, but just as important as time with others, is time alone. Of course, this looks different for each person, so this family of six have created a home where everyone can enjoy time by themselves to relax and recharge in their singular way.

We all need the space to explore our own interests. For some people, that means getting out into the world, but even in a family home, environments can be created that allow individuals to find their own flow. In this apartment, the bedrooms have been designed for just that.
