Japanese designer Noboru Nakamura is the man behind the successful POÄNG armchair, launched in 1977. For the Nytillverkad collection, he removed the headrest, but the comfy rocking feature is still there.

Designer thoughts

Designer Noboru Nakamura

"POEM armchair, later renamed POÄNG, is one of our most successful products. It is designed by Japanese designer Noboru Nakamura and was launched on the cover of our 1977 catalogue. For the Nytillverkad collection, Noboru Nakamura changed the design by removing the headrest. The expression became new, compact and modern, yet the rocking feature and comfort of the layer-glued and bent wooden frame remained the same.”

Do you like POÄNG?

Design and comfort meet in POÄNG armchairs and rocking chairs like two parts of a whole. The layer-glued, bentwood frame follows the contours of your body and supports your neck and lower back, while giving pleasant and relaxing springiness. To ensure you sit in a comfortable position, complement with the footstool. And if you want a change, just buy an extra cushion – they come in different materials and colours.
