Do you know what makes the 14th of August so special? Exactly ten years ago on this day, we opened the first IKEA store in Lithuania. So, there's definitely something to celebrate! And we want to share this joyful moment with you, not only because we feel a part of your home, but also because you are a great part of our history.
A fika for each year
3pm is a perfect time for a very tasty tradition we have borrowed from Swedes. It's fika, a break with hot drinks, sweets and the company that's dear to one's heart. For our 10th birthday, we are planning a celebratory fika - and not just one, but all ten of them. Come and celebrate together, enjoying different cakes and soft drinks for ten days straight!
When? 11 to 20 August, 15:00. Where? At the Swedish Restaurant.
Assembling the birthday piece by piece
Type zaidimas.IKEA.lt into your mobile browser and start searching for our birthday cake.
We’ve hidden 20 pieces of cake with QR codes at the store. Use the map to find them all, scan the codes and collect the whole cake. When it's done, show the screen to a co-worker at our Return Department (1st floor) and claim your gift.
When? 11 to 20 August. Where? At the IKEA Vilnius store.
Cake or fake?
If you like guessing which of the items in the room are real and which ones are made by a talented pastry chef, visit our store in Vilnius. At the entrance area, you'll find a playful photo wall with a delicious-looking armchair that's sure to inspire you to have a fun photo shoot and share some birthday moments with your friends. Curious to also see how the cake like this is made? Let's decorate it together on our birthday!
When? Cake decoration event: 14 August, 15:00. Photo wall: 14 to 20 August. Where? At the IKEA Vilnius store (entrance area).
Birthday cap workshop
Came to the party without wearing a cap? No big deal. We'll give all the kids attending our birthday a paper cap, which everyone can decorate as they like. Once the little ones are dressed up, they can get a free ice cream at the Swedish Bistro.
When? 12 August, 11:00 to 14:00. Where? At the Swedish Restaurant.
Send some colourful greetings
Is there anything sweeter than a handmade card with heartfelt wishes? We think there's not. This is why we invite you to the Swedish Restaurant where you'll find paper, scissors, paint, crayons and stamps to create one. Unleash imagination and creativity together with your kids, write down your friend's address and drop the postcard in our mailbox. We'll make sure it reaches the recipient.
When? 13 August, 11:00 to 14:00. Where? At the Swedish Restaurant.
Party room
A birthday party will be held in the Showroom for three days in a row, with alcohol-free cocktails, DJ performances and animators entertaining families with small kids. They will twist crowns, flowers and animals out of coloured balloons and hand them out to the little ones as a gift.

A wheel of fortune
Wishing happiness on birthday is a common custom. But we believe that everyone makes their own happiness and knows best what brings joy to them. Is it a bar of chocolate, a scoop of ice cream, or maybe a cup of free coffee? After you shop at or store or the Swedish Food Market, show your receipt to a co-worker and spin our birthday wheel of fortune. You'll soon see that it's the little things in life that bring the most happiness (especially those that are tasty).
When? 14 August, 10:00 to 21:00. Where? At the Swedish Food Market.
Children's best friends The Teddy Bear, The Heart and The Meatball will also attend the event. Don't miss the chance to meet them!
